Illegal Possession Of Prescription Drugs
In many cases, individuals are charged with possessing another individual’s prescription medication, such as:
- Psychotropic medications
If the person in possession does not have the prescription in its original bottle with that person’s name on the prescription, that person can be charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, with a minimum penalty of one to three years in the penitentiary.
If the amount of the prescription drug is very small and the person in possession has never been involved in the criminal justice system, a particular type of drug probation under the criminal code is available that can result in the charges being dismissed after the offender satisfactorily completes the probation.
I am prepared to give my clients the information they need to understand the legal process and make educated decisions about their future.
